On this edition of Agency Nation Radio, Will Jones, editor-in-chief of Independent Agent magazine, sits down with Dr. Leroy Nunery II, president of Evolution Advisors, to discuss how the George Floyd murder was a turning point for awareness about racial bias—conscious and unconscious—and created a wave of resources and initiatives devoted to inclusion in the insurance industry.
However, Nunery says that there is still work to be done, pointing to his most recent research released last month—“The Next Steps on the Journey: Has Anything Changed?”—which found that 84% of survey respondents remarked that they still encounter obstacles in their career because of either conscious or unconscious racial bias. Marsh commissioned Nunery to publish the study in conjunction with the National African American Insurance Association.
