Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-North Carolina) will address attendees during the upcoming 2024 Big “I" Legislative Conference, which will take place April 10-12 in Washington, D.C.
U.S. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry (R-North Carolina) will address attendees during the upcoming 2024 Big “I" Legislative Conference, which will take place April 10-12 at the Westin Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel.
On Friday, April 12, Rep. McHenry will sit down with Charles Symington, Big “I" president & CEO, for a candid and casual conversation reflecting on his career in Washington, D.C. and his longstanding relationship with the association.
Before serving as Financial Services Committee chairman, McHenry served in House leadership as chief deputy whip. He briefly returned to House leadership when he served as House speaker pro tempore where he guided the chamber for three contentious weeks in October 2023.
Rep. McHenry recently announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year after faithfully serving since 2005 and firmly establishing himself as one of the most respected members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.
This will not be the first time that McHenry has participated in the Big “I" Legislative Conference. In 2005, when McHenry was the youngest member of Congress at only 29 years old, he spoke at the InsurPac Young Agents luncheon about the importance of political activism. Rep. McHenry also addressed the Large Agent-Broker & CEO Dinner in 2019, an event attended by the association's largest agents and brokers and company CEOs.
The chat at this year's legislative conference will be a unique and personal conversation between two longtime friends and is sure to provide lots of stories and insights from a veteran congressional insider.
“The Big 'I' is honored that Patrick would take the time to sit down with us to reflect on his nearly two decades in Congress. In particular, he was at the center of the House speaker election upheaval at both the beginning and end of last year, making history as our nation's first and only speaker pro tempore," Symington said. “Our discussion will offer a glimpse into the life of a legislator who has seen it all during his time on Capitol Hill."
The 2024 Big “I" Legislative Conference gives Big “I" members an opportunity to discuss important issues in front of their legislators as well as network with others in the industry. Check out the latest schedule and register before Monday, March 11 to take advantage of early-bird pricing.
