big ‘i’ legislative conference: issues briefing released, speakers announced

In anticipation of the 2025 Big “I" Legislative Conference, which will take place April 30-May 2 in Washington, D.C., the Big “I" government affairs team recorded a virtual issues briefing outlining the top issues that will be the focus of this year's conference.

In addition to watching the video, attendees can prepare for meetings on Capitol Hill by downloading the issues briefing documents and exploring the issues that independent insurance agents will be discussing with lawmakers in further detail—including tax reform, disaster mitigation, legal reform, crop insurance and more.

As it does every year, the Big “I" will have a star-studded cast of guest speakers at various events throughout the week.

The legislative conference will kick off on Wednesday, April 30, with the Emerging Leaders Luncheon. Nathan Riedel, big “I" senior vice president of federal government affairs, will sit down for a fireside chat with Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-Arizona) to discuss civility in politics, engaging younger generations in the political and legislative process, and more.

Later that evening, Rep. Richard Hudson (R-North Carolina), who serves in House Republican leadership as chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, will speak at a smaller event for large agents, brokers and carrier executives.

On Thursday, May 1, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) will deliver the keynote address at the Big “I" Legislative Breakfast.

Attendees will hear from other legislators throughout the week, including Sen. Steve Daines (R-Montana), who serves on the powerful Senate Committee on Finance, and Rep. Grace Meng (D-New York), who sits on the House Committee on Appropriations and chairs the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Additional speakers will be announced over the coming days. Online registration for the event is now closed but you can still register in person at the event site.

Teddie Norton Reilly is Big “I" chief of staff.
