Rep. McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington), Sen. Tester (D-Montana) and Rep. Hinson (R-Iowa) will address Big "I" Legislative attendees. A new government affairs video outlines top issues for Capitol Hill meetings next week.
In anticipation of the 2023 Big “I" Legislative Conference, which will take place April 26-28 in Washington, D.C., the Big “I" government affairs team recorded a virtual “Issues Briefing" that outlines the five issues that will be the focus during this year's conference. This material will help attendees prepare for their meetings on Capitol Hill.
As it does every year, the Big “I" will have a star-studded cast of guest speakers throughout the week. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington) will address the Big “I" Legislative Breakfast on Thursday, April 27.
Rep. McMorris Rodgers has served in the House of Representatives since 2004. As chair of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, she has broad jurisdiction over consumer protection, public health, energy, telecommunications and interstate commerce concerns.
Prior to chairing the committee, she served as chair of the House Republican Conference from 2012 to 2018. In 2014, she delivered the Republican response to the State of the Union address and regularly appears in prominent televised speaking roles, advocating for the House Republican agenda.
Rep. McMorris Rodgers will be joined at the Legislative Breakfast by Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana). Sen. Tester is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, which has jurisdiction over the insurance market. He is also chairman of the Senate Veteran Affairs Committee and chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
Sen. Tester has served in the Senate since 2006. In 2014, the Big “I" awarded him the Gerald Solomon Legislator of the Year award for his work on agent licensing reform.
Earlier in the week, attendees at the Legislative Conference will hear from Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) at the Emerging Leaders Luncheon. Rep. Hinson is serving her second term in Congress and sits on the powerful House Committee on Appropriations. She was appointed to the committee as a freshman, which is a rarity. Rep. Hinson is widely respected by her colleagues and her name is regularly mentioned as a future member of House Republican leadership or as a potential statewide candidate.
On Friday, Jesse Watters, host of Fox News Channel's “Jesse Watters Primetime," co-host of “The Five," and author of the No. 1 New York Times Best Seller, “How I Saved the World," will be a featured speaker at the 2023 Big “I" Legislative Conference.
Watters will chat with Big “I" President & CEO Bob Rusbuldt about the latest headlines, current events, insights on issues affecting small businesses, and his anecdotes from his experiences rising through the ranks of Fox News.
Online registration for the event is now closed but you can still register in person at the event site.
Teddie Norton Reilly is Big “I" director of government affairs operations.
