PRODUCT: Commercial auto companion product to Arrowhead workers compensation program

COMPANIES: Backed by an AM Best A+ rated carrier.

AVAILABILITY: Agencies need to be appointed with Arrowhead's monoline workers comp program to access commercial auto coverage.

FOCUS: Affordable commercial auto insurance can be difficult to find. It's also becoming more costly due to the increased cost of parts and repairs, the associated liability risk and the uptick of motor-vehicle accidents.

Recently, Arrowhead General Insurance announced that it will begin offering commercial auto insurance to its workers comp clients in construction-related industries. This product will serve the construction industry and contractors who've had a challenging time finding—or affording—coverage.

“Commercial auto has become increasingly difficult in recent years," says Becky Pinto, president of workers comp program, Arrowhead. “We're looking forward to providing this solution to our agents and customers and offering it as a companion product to select risks."

UNDERWRITING: Agents can submit their commercial auto opportunities through Arrowhead's online quote portal. The target industry is construction, including general contractors and artisan contractors in California. Premiums range between $2,500 and $50,000.

Target risks have 1 to 20 power units and a gross vehicle weight of less than 20,000 pounds with a radius of 100 miles. Midterm moves and new ventures are acceptable.

COVERAGE TERRITORY: California, but 10% out-of-state exposure is acceptable.

CONTACT: Michele Mayer, director of business development, Arrowhead; 619-325-2348; Arrowhead General Insurance Agency, 701 B Street Suite 2100, San Diego, CA 92101.
